Enterprise Architecture and the Federal Government

Now that we have a new Government CIO, I figured I would share some thoughts on making it better...

  • Encourage more personnel churn. There is often too much ossification in government.

  • Don't make the job application process so cumbersome that productivity-minded people give up or are frightened away.

  • More subordinate evaluation of supervisors would help immensely. There are too many supervisors with huge flaws that never get checked because their superiors don't see it or don't care.

  • Encourage Federal Government employees to participate in OWASP.

  • Mandate that government contractors use methodologies such as Extreme Programming and SCRUM.

  • Allow for all belief systems to be fair game for questioning.
