Enterprise Architecture and getting called to the carpet
Have you noticed the frequency in which the need to defend those who get called to the carpet has increased...
Gaining buy-in is both good and bad. Sadly, this is the mantra of Gartner. Likewise, the best way to accomplish this goal is through the worst practices of focusing on process over competence.
Nowadays, the trend of getting called to the carpet occurs when folks attempt to do the right thing vs what is popular. What does it say about your enterprise if it is better to duckdown than to do the right thing?
Why does your boss need to publicly support you when the facts should stand on their own? Have we lost the ability to do fact based reasoning? Is enterprise architecture nothing but a glorified ponzi scheme that was embraced by Madoff or do we have a higher calling?
