Why you aren't allowed to work from home...

Consider that your employer can outsource jobs thousands of miles away yet as an employee, you aren't allowed to work from home...



It is important to understand that the majority of managers don't know how to manage. Face time is the only way they can gauge if someone is working. If they, the staff, are in the office 12 hours a day, they must be doing something, right.

For your employer, working from home is not a function of strategy, it is a function of trust, insight, management skill and a focus on success. If you focus on success, if you can see success, then you can achieve success, regardless of whether the staff is at home, or in the office.

Sadly, success and the notion of a results oriented work environment (ROWE) isn't as pervasively deployed as perception management...
