Don't Fight the Process
Don't bother fighting the process, embrace it no matter how retarded it may feel...
Ignore agility as the vast majority of folks in your enterprise will become paralyzed by the slightest bit of uncertainty. Additionally, they will be unwilling to figure out for themselves what will work. Enterprises in 2008 lack both the ability and the desire to expiriment. IT no longer has geeks as the corridors are filled with folks who need to be told the right way to do everything before they are willing to take on the task.
It is important to understand that there are people involved who are unwilling or unable to act without heavyweight process and if you change it, you will destroy their purpose in life. While a more agile process would be better for the business at large, it is not necessarily better for everyone....
