Why Smalltalk is annoying...

Why can't folks in the Smalltalk community create a standard? The folks over at the Java Community Process defines what Java can and can't do. ANSI has defined standards around C and C++, even Ruby is portable to JRuby to a great level.

Should an enterprise consider using a language where trivial, not portable constructs are pervasive? What do product managers in the world of Smalltalk do all day?
