Don't trust enterprise architects who do lots of hand waving...
Hand waving is a metaphor for avoiding communication...

Many IT folks do hand waving under the following situations:
Of course, IT folks who do hand waving sometimes also use comic diversion once their arms get tired. I previously mentioned that I will be speaking at the Tech Forum in NYC. Maybe I should count how many presenters do hand waving. I am of the belief that there is a high correlation of hand wavers to those who also in their presentations bombard their audience with facts and references created by large industry analyst firms.

- They don't really understand the subject area but have to represent it
- The explanation is complex and there isn't enough time for folks to truly understand it
- They are presenting to folks who really don't care
- They are evil and attempting to cover their deeds
