Industry Analysts and Open Source Identity Management
Novell to launch open source identity management product which is sorely needed by many enterprises in order to remain compliant to various legal and regulatory acts. I wonder what us customers would need to do in order to get some industry analysts to start paying more attention to this space?

I wonder how this will align with Project Higgins? Anyway, large enterprises nowadays are being forced to spend lots of bucks on items that make them compliant but generally don't have any business return on investment. Seeing commoditization of such products ultimately benefits IT as a profession and frees up monies for more important undertakings...

- enable application access to identity stores
- support multiple and pluggable authentication methods and user-managed authentication credentials
- provide a simple API for role-based access control
- simplify auditing and reporting for compliance based on open standards and specifications.
