Desired Features in Microsoft Outlook and Exchange
- Views: It is wonderful that there are views that allow for viewing/filtering email based on attributes of the message such as whether it was read, of a certain priority or the date it was received. What would increase productivity for me is if I could filter my inbox based on whether the email was sent from a person within my enterprise vs an outsider. Linking/joining to a specified address book to figure this out would be powerful and would even help filter out more spam and is a better approach that a whitelist.
- Working Offline: I am a mobile worker and like to compose emails offline. Sometimes it is important for the date of the email to reflect when I composed it. The problem though is that sometimes when I sync back to the network, my mailbox is filled with vendors sending me white papers and other marketing materials I really don't want nor asked for which causes the email to bounce. What I would like to be able to do is to uncheck save in sent items when composing email yet think of this action as transitory and not be applied against quota since it is temporary in nature.
- Calendar: In a large enterprise, they may setup meeting rooms as resources where they may number into the hundreds. I would like a feature where based on the number of invitees, it will automatically filter out the resources that don't fit. Let's say you need to have a meeting with ten people, why should I have to read the description for the room to figure out in only holds eight and do manual selective exclusion.
